Conflict in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) forced Ku and his sister to leave their homes. Their journey brought them through Utica, NY.

Over 60 million individuals are currently displaced worldwide and nearly 20 million are refugees.  Almost 5 million are from Syria alone and over half of all refugees are children. This is the largest refugee crisis since World War II.  In 2015 more than 1 million refugees traveled to Europe by sea seeking refuge and protection.
